Sukabumi does not need to wait until 2015 to reach eights of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This year, eight of MDGs are already reached of Sukabumi. It has been said by Head of District of Sukabumi, Muslikh Abdussyukur on Friday (17/10) after the “Stand Up Take Action” campaign at Merdeka Sport Center, Sukabumi. “We only need improvement,” said Muslikh.
In accordance with the poverty reduction and hunger programs for those whose income are less than US$1.0 (Rp.9,800,-) per day, Muslikh said that per capita income of Sukabumi’s citizen is reached Rp.600,000,- per month or around US$2.0 per day.
Education program for everyone is also already be reached by Sukabumi. “The average accomplished education level of Sukabumi’s citizen is 11 years or more,” said Muslikh. Currently, Sukabumi pushes its citizen to accomplish the 12 years compulsory basic education program.
On behalf of the health goal, infant mortality rate in 2008 at Sukabumi is 17 per 1,000 live births, while the life expectancy is 71 years old.
In analogy with gender equality, derived from Muslikh, there was a Head of Disctrict of Sukabumi who is a woman. Beside that, campaigners of “Stand Up Take Action” are female teachers.
Other target are partnership in the globalization era and environment sustainability, Sukabumi is pointed to be Indonesian representative for President City in the city group. Million trees planting programme is conducting by the Government of Sukabumi in cooperation with companies through their budgets for corporate social responsibility.
Head committee of Stand Up Take Action, Suherman said, campaign will be done in sequence until Sunday (19/10) with various activities, such as: support gathering from kindergartens to senior high school, blood donation, foster friends program, and also explanation of concept of MDGs through forum in Mosques.
