The study reports – Scrutinizing the need of MDGs achievement in Nusa Tenggara Barat (February 2008) +++

By observing NTB, especially Mataram city and Lombok Island with its adequate infrastructures and the economic potential of the two main islands (Lombok and Sumbawa), it becomes difficult to believe that the province’s Human Development Index (HDI) was at the bottom in the country’s national list.

Some of next issues has arisen questions from a lot of parties, for instance, since a couple of years, NTB has been one of the provinces that has given development aids. However, the poverty’s percentage has not improved considering the province’s abundant natural wealth. It’s poverty’s index was still high. Therefore, it would be reasonable to question and doubt data verification.

The “Scrutinizing the need of the Millennium Development Goals Achievement in Nusa Tenggara Barat Province” report, summarizes various challenges, potentials, hopes, and recommendations from stakeholders in nine counties/cities and NTB Province. Focus group discussions and secondary data compilations in various levels in the government would not be possible without cooperation and support from the County’s government and all stakeholders in NTB Province.
